Counting Our Blessings

When the rest of the world is asleep
I sit awake and count my blessings.

Two closed eyes
A tiny button nose
Full lips
Ten long fingers
Two feet like your daddy
One comfortable chair
A second hand ticking
A warm spot in the bed from a tired dog
The glow of a monitor
My best friend snoozing until it is his turn
A God up above that loves our clean and dirty diapers

When the rest of the world is asleep
I sit awake and count my blessings.

Coffee. Repeat.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family. We visited Pop and NaNa first (Lee and Cathy) and enjoyed a memorable dinner on Wednesday. I believe we solved America's problems and how to fix the education system.

NaNa finds out that Jack takes after his momma...we are morning people!

We spent Thanksgiving at PaPa and Barb's house in Galveston. We enjoyed great food, football, and spending time catching up. My Uncle Cary came in from Florida. That was a real treat for everyone. We truly missed John and Krissy not being there. I know this little turkey would have enjoyed having his auntie hold him after getting stuffed.

Next stop...East Bernard. Dot and momma showed Jack how to master the art of finding a good sale. He shopped for two hours and broke in Brooks Brother's dressing room :). A man who already knows where to leave an impression!

Already a pro at watching Aggie football. We all couldn't be happier with the Aggie season. Johnny Football all the way!

I think Cooper in this last photo sums up how we all feel at the end of the holidays.

God is Good!

On October 15th we were blessed to finally meet Jack.
The second he rested his hand over his mother's heart we knew our lives had changed.
They always say dynamite comes in small packages and he has rocked our world.
Supportive family and friends have kept us ticking.
Cookies, frozen meals, hugs, thoughtful phone calls, and special visits from our dearest family and friends made us realize that Jack already has a village ready to cheer and support him...and it will take a village :).

Jack, we loved you when you were just a nugget.
We loved to hear your heart beating before you even arrived.
Even in the middle of the night, after an "explosion" we still just sit there and watch you in amazement.
A button nose, round cheeks, a thoughtful brow.
Thank you for joining us.
We are certain this journey is going to be a great one.
Fire your engines and let the journey begin.
